I’m always conflicted with these first posts.  Tradition states that I should make some sort of introduction here.  But let’s face it: if you’re reading this blog, you’re either my friend or a stalker.  If you’re the former, you already know me, and if you’re the latter, I don’t want you to know me.  Unless you’re Christian, female, single, and somewhat sane, in which case, we should talk.

So I’m going to go ahead and use “cliche-intro-post-topic #2″: my new blog’s name.  As you may know, I am going to leave the Bay Area for the first time in my life to attend UCSD for the next couple of years.  (Let’s get the common questions out of the way – yes, I’m excited, Master’s degree, going to see if I like research enough to get a PhD, two years, going to attend Lighthouse, living with four guys from Lighthouse, moving down in a month or so.)  In other words, (nerdier words),  you could say that I’m about to “reboot” most of my current life.  Scary.

Why “Soft Reboot?”  Doesn’t “Hard Reboot” roll off the tongue better?  Well, to me, a hard reboot is kind of a last resort, something you do when your system’s totally messed up.  To me, this move feels less harsh…more like one of those restarts you do when you install a new program on your computer, or…well…I, um…

…sigh…

Two thoughts.  1)  That is a REALLY nerdy analogy, and I promise you, you’ll never see anything like that here again.  Really.  Or at least, if I do make another nerdy analogy, I promise it’ll connect better than that one.  2)  The previous paragraph is completely false.  I really wanted www.hardreboot.com, but some guy’s already taken it and make it redirect to www.hardreboot.net, which seems to be a real attempt at making a computer security site or something.  Too bad.

Anyway, this is going to be my spot on the Internet until I get bored.  Right now, I’m just trying to get online, so the site will be kinda bare until I get everything set up.  Hopefully I’ll update more than once a month this time.
